An increasing number of EU residents support the confiscation of valuables from refugees when they enter Europe. But above all, as explained in this video by Valentina Bosetti, it has allowed the testing of one of the most innovative international environmental policies - that is the emissions trading scheme at European level that has proven to work very well

The destruction of middle class wealth in parts of the eurozone under current economic policies has parallels with the pre-World War II era that ushered in economic collapse, followed by extreme politics, says Wharton finance professor Franklin Allen. Debt monetizing policies by the European Central Bank and the Fed may also reduce competitiveness against China, India and other emerging economies.

Preparations are underway for next Monday's African Union summit, one that marks the formal and complete return of Morocco into the club of continental nations. This after decades of conflict over its annexation of Western Sahara. On the world stage, King Mohammed the 6th can boast growing trade and influence. Morocco's even entering the Ecowas group of West African nations, making his country even more of a conduit between the continent and Europe. But that image abroad's in stark contrast with the anger that's spilled over in the northern Rif region, where the death of a fishmonger as he tried to salvage his confiscated catch has continued to spiral. As the President looks at the state of our union for ideas that improve the American economy, health care, and support for families, many are looking abroad for examples. Europe's brand of "social capitalism" has been held out as both an example for America to emulate, and one for it to avoid. Some believe the U.S. should develop a government-regulated health care system as in Europe, and that the more comprehensive supports for workers and families developed in Europe should be copied here. Others see European policies as building a welfare state that is too expensive and centrally controlled to work in America. What is your view? What should be our President's?
Russian president blames Europe’s policy on the Middle East and North Africa for the current refugee crisis. Vladimir Putin said the crisis was absolutely expected. He noted that Russia had warned earlier that there would be a crisis if the west continued its mistakes in the region. Putin said the US media is hypocritical in its coverage of the suffering of asylum-seekers arriving in Europe.
